iOS 16 is rolling out all over the world, but it was hit by a big issue early on that stopped some users from downloading apps from the Apple App Store.
Users were unable to accept the digital store’s Terms and Conditions agreements, according to some Twitter users (opens in new tab). Attempting to press “I Agree” on the page resulted in an error message being displayed, telling people to try again later and leaving them unable to install the software. The problem is not unique to iPhones or iOS 16 as the compatibility issue affected iOS 15.7, iPad (opens in new tab)and even Mac computers (opens in new tab).
It is not known what caused this compatibility issue with some online assumptions that could be a server side error. Instead of releasing it in waves, Apple decided to release iOS 16 all at once to the world at 10pm PST (opens in new tab). It is entirely possible that the Terms and Conditions issue was caused by people all over the world downloading the OS in bulk, resulting in a server overload. Or it could have been incompatibility between iOS 16 and device apps.
However, we won’t know for sure unless Apple releases an official statement. We reached out to Apple to see if they would like to comment on the Terms and Conditions issue afflicting iOS 16 and perhaps explain what happened. This story will be updated if we have an answer.
Looking at Apple System Status (opens in new tab), everything has been resolved for both the mobile and Mac app stores at the time of writing. For mobile devices, a message says that some users were unable to access the App Store, but this has now been fixed. For the Mac store, it displays a similar message. Some Twitter users have confirmed that the Terms and Conditions issue has been fixed (opens in new tab) and are able to accept the Terms and Conditions. For those still being affected, it is recommended that you first restart your phone and update your device apps (opens in new tab) before installing iOS 16, according to ‘s own Daryl Baxter.
Apple’s latest product launch was a little bumpy. On September 9, pre-orders opened for the upcoming iPhone 14, but would eventually lead to the Apple Store Online facing a ton of technical issues, according to 9 to 5 Mac (opens in new tab). Various unintentional requests, server errors, and exchange tool error messages were among the issues that people experienced. Not even the telephone operators were spared.
T-Mobile’s ordering system, for example, suffered from some transaction issues. (opens in new tab) that left people unable to get a phone. And on top of that, there are reports of shipping dates for select iPhone 14 models being pushed back until October 25th (opens in new tab)more than a month after the official release on September 16th.
